I appreciate you taking the time out to present your tutorial. I understood the basics of the coil spring method, but I had many questions you answered about the details.

I may have to give this a try. Thank you

Has it got a Spring inside to return it to it's position?

Chris, Papi said in an earlier post that he uses a 1/8" dia. spring in a hole inside the button.

I just received 2 different types of 1/8 compression springs from MSC yesterday. I hadn't realized they were made that small, and had always used 3/16" springs, which forced the button stem to be larger. I've revised my button lock design and it uses 1/8 springs now. I'm in the process of building the first prototype using this latest revision.

My thanks to Papi for the idea to use a 1/8 spring.

Should be just right, Chris.

I haven't seen a Bic lighter up close for 40 years!

Papi, have you finished the knife?

I'm anxious to see the final result.

Looking forward to seeing this finished. I'm interested in trying it, but I can't until I have access to a mill. Where do you get your button from? Did you make it?

Trenton

G'day to all I am a new member and already like the feel of the place!!!

I have been making hunting knives for years now. But now recently retired and having set up a good machining shop I am keen to get started on folders and in particular coil spring auto's, so yes I would be hanging to follow your threads.
Good luck and best wishes to all...

Ps. If you know of any exploded views, plans etc. That I can get a look at that would be brilliant.
