Looking for 5160

I'm looking for some 1/4"x1" or 1/4"x1-1/2"x36" pieces of 5160 to take with me to the Michigan Hammer In next week. I didn't think I would have that hard of time finding some. I checked with Admiral Steel and they would only sell me the stuff in 20' sections and wouldn't cut a couple 3' pieces for me. Koval and Jantz have none. Texas Knifemaker had 1/4"x1-3/4" and frankly I don't know if that will be too much material to move for a smaller knife (knowing nothing about forging).

Can anyone help me find some?

Thanks,
Tom

Dont know where you live, but you might try to locate a suspension company, that makes car and truck springs. They use 5160 in its annealed state.Try a local 4x4 shop if you have trouble locating one, they would usually know.Good luck.

Well, I ordered some 5160, 1084, belts and a hammer from Al at Riverside on Friday. The cool part is he's going to be at the Hammer In as well, so he's going to bring them along with him, couldn't have worked out any better.

Thanks for the help!!

Take care,
Tom
