stabilizing medium


I'm fixin to try stabilizing some woods. What is the best material to stabilize with? Any tips appreaciated.

I am sure I will catch some heat from the "do it yourselfers", but I don't think you can go wrong by sending your wood to someone like WSSI (www.stabilizedwood.com) or K&G (www.knifeandgun.com).

To do a professional job in your own shop is going to cost considerable time or money or both. These guys are pros, and at about $12/lb, you can't beat either the price or the quality.

I definitely agree with Don.WSSI will do it in quantity for $8.00 lb,or at least they did a short while ago.

Check with either of them for their current rates, but I have used them both to do exactly that.
