304 Stainless

I have a bunch of 304 stainless sheet, 3/16" thick (with a number 4 machine finish, whatever that means! ) I picked up and its sitting in my basement. I have a LOT of it, some smaller pieces, and a very large piece i can cut a 16x20 piece and a 12x34" piece out of. If anyone is interested, let me know! i'm willing to trade or sell this stuff, just trying to clean out my parents basement before they do it for me

Taz, although it's not much good for things like guards and bolsters (kinda gummy), that' s great material for making your own heat treating/cooling racks.

Don, I havent worked it yet, so I dont know if it is gummy or not. It had some sort of special treating and finishing done to it I believe for added corrossion resistance. If you want, I can send some to you to see if it is gummy or not. I don't do bolsters, so I havent used it yet!

Thanks for the offer, but I don't know what I would do with with it. I used some once on some bolsters, and Steve Lindsay told me he would not engrave that material. I guess it's pretty had to work with from an engraver's perspective.

I use 416 SS exclusively these days for stainless guards and bolsters.
