ram horn

OK, figured since every time I go to the zoo, or anywhere for that matter, I see knife handles walking around As a knifemaker, I get a lot of stuff dropped off from buddies that think it'll make a good handle, ya know? Well, I use a lot of sheep, and my brother found this head somewhere. Not even sure what kind of sheep it is.

It's 34" wide, length along outside curl is 35 1/2" each side, with a 7 1/2" girth at the base. Not very big around, but a good looking set of horns, good texture. Anybody know exactly what it could be? I've used corsican, mouflon, etc... but this one... Idunno.

Ram horn

Jason,
I don't have a clue myself as to what kind it was, but looks like it'll look good as knife handles

Re: Ram horn

Sure looks like a domestic Ramboliet head to me. Bighorns are much much heavier.

I believe that is a spanish goat head. Horns on sheep curl much tighter to the skull. Goat horns will curl out.

It is definitely goat, like Shotgunone said probably from a Spanish Billy. There are thousands of those stinking goats in the area where we deer hunt in Southwest TX. Thankfully there aren't any on the land we lease. Should make some good scales though. I have some of them in the shop, but haven't tried any yet.

Well, sure had me fooled, I have never seen goat horns that color or curved like that!

Hey Rob,
Where did you get that cool animation on your signature?
I have seen a lot of different ones, but that is the best that I have seen.
Glad to see you over here sharing your wisdom with the CKD.

Mike, a client and freind of mine made me the Buffalo thingy. He does a lot of animation for the big television networks, and makes a lot of commercial animations. He told me the software he made it on cost around $100,000. So I guess it should be nice huh?
