My First with New Camera

Okay I know Steve just bought the very same camera and posted pics with it but I just wanted to get something out cus I'm blown away by this camera. I can't believe that this is their bottom of the line entry level DSLR! Not saying this pic is perfect because it isn't, I still have things to work on for sure but it's way better than what I have produced with my old camera. No real colour manipulation done with this either.

I need to add a light in the front to help fill in that front shadow.

This was taken with my new Nikon D50 DSLR, with my 24-120mm Nikkor lens.

Sean

Cool! It's definitely exciting to be able to get a good picture like that. My motto: "Good gear is good!" People say gear is not as important as the person using it. That's true but without good (good enough) gear one's skills and potential will never develop beyond a certain point. Hope you'll post more of your pictures.

Fun isn't it. Have you managed to read the whole manual yet?
What a difference even just in the feel of the camera. It feels like a real tool not something disposable.
I know what you will be doing for the next couple of days.
Steve

Ya this thing is impressive. Still lots to learn. As to reading the manual I more perused it than read it!

I've figured out a fair bit on the camera and am really liking this thing. I've been snapping away ever since I got it. Will be taking it to the Grand Canyon before the Vegas show in a couple of weeks, wish I had a wide angle lens for it though.
