14" wheel

Hi Guys
I am a new knife maker with 6 knives under my belt. I learned to hollow grind on a friends 14" sloted wheel. Now I want one for my BM2 grinder but the new price is $500.
Dose anyone have a used one they would part with???
If so I am interested.
Thanks
MoblMec

For what it might be worth, it's just as easy to grind on a 10" wheel as a 14" and far more common. 10" wheels will also be expensive but Grizzly sells one for their grinder that is under $100. It isn't serrated but you could probably have that done to it at your local machine shop.

Also, some guys have had custom wheels made by Sunray and sometimes that's cheaper than buying one of the commercial wheels.

No matter how you go about it, where contact wheels are concerned you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality. Unless you find someone who's getting out of the knife making biz I doubt you'll find a 14" for sale - even a 10" could be hard to find. Short of getting out of the biz, there's hardly any reason for anyone to let go of one of those wheels....

A 10" wheel is far mor common than a 14" wheel and unless you are doing very shallow hollow grinds the 10" should do everything you want and at a much lower price.
