Engraved Mini 605

The Filet knife didn't come out that good by posting the picture, so I'm trying the Attachment selection this time.

This is a Darrel Ralph Mini 605 with Mammoth scales and gold screws, the knife was made as a gift for a friend.

The next one I do like this, I will make replacment silver or 416 SS bolsters, the composition of these stock bolsters is not good for engraving. Something in the alloy does not cut cleanly, the chips flake up instead of coming up in a nice smooth consistant chip.
As a result the edge of the cut are rough by comparison to silver or 416 Stainless and doesn't reflect light as it should.

This is not really a complaint about the knife, these Darrel Ralph knive are great to work on but the bolsters are made of an alloy that doesn't cut well. It is a common problem with manufactured parts. Often the alloy is used to save weight, and you can't ague that point in a pocket knife.

Hope you like the pictures.

What a delightful little knife! Rarely do we get a chance to see the finery of engraving on these. The new owner will love this.

Good work. I look forward to the next generation!
