Fishing Knife and Pliers set
This is a fishing knife and pliers set that we make. It is used mostly for the saltwater fisherman but works well for fishing in general. It is a leather sheath with belt clip, a knife made of CPM S30V and black linen micarta and a set of pliers with a carbide cutter. We usually use Donmar pliers, the customer provided these. The knife is there mostly for safety and the pliers are attached to the sheath to prevent loss. If it is on your belt, you don't have to look for it as you go over the side.

Pretty sweet Harry! I can think of numerous times I'd have liked to have that combo over a *&^%$$ multi-tool that takes two hands to operate. I do like a little longer reach on the pliers end when messing with the more toothy critters, but that's because my arms are short enough already.
Ever thought about doing one in safety orange so when you drop it in skinny water you can find it faster? __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

We have done it in orange G10 before. We don't care much for working with G10 because of the itch factor, but it makes a nice outfit. Really gets nice when you use titaniun pliers.

I don't understand. Aren't you supposed to stay in the boat?

Yep, but it might not work out that way. The last thing you want to see on the bait table when you realize you are attached to a big fish and going over the side is your knife and pliers. It can happen so fast. People have been lost because their hand got hung up in a leader or wrapped in an anchor line and they had no way to get themselves free.
