ATS-34 VS 154cm

Hey There,
What is the difference between ATS-34 & 154cm. I know the make up of it is supposed to be the same from what I hear, but are they realy the same? Does one perform better than the other? Is the heat treating methods the same? Thanks for any help on the subject, Shane

Heat treat and performance are the same. I think there are fractions of percentage difference in one or two elements, I had this discussion a few weeks back with a friend and fellow maker. The real difference in the steels is the vintage, ATS was super clean, nice steel at one point and then went down hill due to import costs and restrictions, 154 came in and took that place as the clean ATS-like steel. They've gone back and forth. The only difference I've ever seen is some clouding in some of the ATS I've used.
