Electrolyte
Anyone know a good source for general purpose electrolyte solution for etching that doesn't have high shipping rates? Using an etch-o-matic. Cheapest shipping for a $10 item I've found is $15.

Cpt,
I could be wrong but I believe most of that is the Haz Mat Fee. I know when I order Calicium Carbide I pay $20 to 25 for the Carbide, ( Miners or Cavers Carbide ). But the order always totals out to approx a $100 including shipping. By the way, if you find less expensive shipping for the electrolyte Pls let us know. Sometimes I get really upset when I face shipping charges that I deem "unfair." I'm always on a budget and sometimes it sets me back. But lately I've been very blessed financially, meaning not rich or affluent by any means but stable, and so I try and remember that worrying about a few bucks isn't worth my health. Not to mention 16oz is enough to etch A LOT of knives.
This was the best that I found and what I ordered. A little leaky. http://www.ebay.com/itm/360423270511...84.m1439.l2649 |

Tracy Mickley sells etching solution, and I don't recall him charging me extra when I bought mine. Shipping from usaknifemaker is usually under $10, if I recall correctly.
