Bull Pup #2...Lil bigger..

I previously posted a design I called "Bullpup" which had a 3.75" blade and 4.25" handle. It was a short, stout little knife. A customer wanted a larger version for his hands so this is what he got:

4" 1095/15N20 Deep Etch Damascus Twist Blade
5" Stabilized Box Elder Burl Handle

I did not taper the handle at all on this one. Also I dropped the edge a bit more than the original. This one is heading out to Paul Long for a sheath and then getting its final finish and sharpening.

Pardon the indoor pics....wanted to get something up.

Also working on my webpage....just put it up....

Verry nice! you've developed a verry nice style, wide slightly drop point blades, and great handle sculpting.Wish I could figure a way to make those finger grooves come out that nice..... And where did you get that wood?? What is it? the figure realy sets off the damascus....

Gary
P.s. What sig?
P.s.2 How is that shop knife holding up?

That looks like David Peterson's box elder burl to me.

Awesome job Dave!

That deep etch rocks!

Yup! It Dave's Box Elder burl. Can't wait to see it once I put a final polish on it! The Burl really has lines of fire shooting from the spine!

Blade is 15N20/1095 Twist damascus, a little over 3/16.

This one also has a thong hole by request. Was a fun project that was the first that I got to use my new bandsaw (never owned a bandsaw)....I can honestly say it took me a LOT less time than my previous knives. Not having to hacksaw and profile by grinding both the scales and billet probably saved me a couple hours, which is a big deal to a part time maker who usually only squeezes in a couple shop sessions a week!

Webpage should be in sig now....its not done, just have thumbnails up for many of the gallery pics. Under heavy construction, but you get the idea.
