Looks nice Ricky, It always surprises me how clean almost any type of metal can be with enough work. Do you do any prep work to the nail pre-twist? I find that grinding/sanding it down as much as possible cuts back on the clear distinction between blade and handle. As far as color and sheen goes.
Also check out that link I posted earlier, there are a handful of twists that I'm excited to try once the forge gets built. I burned though $100 of Oxygen and Acetylene doing two railroad spike knives. __________________ Si Ventus Non Est, Remiga. "If There is no Wind, Row." |

On that one, I just grabbed a rusty spike from the box and went to town. I did try making some cuts in the handle on one and it was kinda cool
100$ in oxy and acetylene ouch. That's more than I have Invested in my forge. I looking hard at building a propane forge now too. That or save for a new grinder. |

Nice work guys.
My first 3 were made from railroad spikes, here are #2 and #3 Iv done heavy ironwork and machining so making a knife from a spike takes about half an hour. I left them somewhat rough to give them a rustic look. It was a fun project to make gifts for the kids. |
