Youtube Channels

If there are any aspiring blacksmiths or knife makers here, a great resource to learn more about this craft is through youtube. I personally have a youtube channel - check it out at the link included or simply search "Auden Cote" in youtube. On my channel there are blacksmithing, machining, and knife making videos as well as knife reviews and overviews. It is small at the moment, but I expect it to grow. I release videos every Saturday or Sunday, and every Wednesday. Other great channels are Simple Little Life, Alec Steele, Ekim Knives, and so many more!

Youtube and knifemaking is kind of a curse for me..... I have students who come for classes, that have done nothing but watch youtube videos, and it's just a train wreck. I have to spend far too much of the class time "unlearning" them because they "Saw it on Youtube."

It's not the "iffy" information that gets me, it's the flat out FALSE information, and if you're someone who knows knives and knifemaking, it's very easy to spot, and even more frustrating when those peddling obviously false information portray themselves as an "expert".

My advice to anyone is to take any information, whether from Youtube, a forum, or any other source, with a grain of salt until you prove or disprove it for yourself.

The bottom line with knifemaking, as with any other "craft" is..... you cannot learn it from pictures, videos, or any other method besides actually doing it.

Exactly what I was saying.....To be honest everyone that is a regular on this forum and has been for a while knows I can in to this forum brand new I didn't know ANYTHING. A lot of what I have learned has come from online source's. Over time I have learned what and who I can trust from good info. But still a lot of that info is a great starting place but I always adapt things for what works for me now that being said yeh a lot of my learning has come from people online however the amount of info I got from you tube is barely anything
