a book loaded with fine embellishment

I was in Barnes and Noble today and stumbled onto a coffee table type picture book called "Steel Canvas * the Art of American Arms", R.L.Wilson. It is over 350 pages and has HUNDREDS (at least one picture or more on every page) of full color photo's of guns, knives and swords - mostly guns, that are embellished in some way. There is a brief history on the various weapons and methods of embellishment. Lot's of engravings and carvings. The book published at $65, which I doubt it ever sold for but I picked it up at $19.98. I see where it is listed on Amazon here at $30 which I still consider an amazing bargain. Highly recommended.

I took one look at it an bought it on the spot! It was in the Reduced Price section. Funny thing is that my first thought going out of the store was that I should post something on here suggesting that others look for the book. I couldn't believe that I saw this thread! Great minds think alike, I guess!

Not only is there lots of embellishment, there are lots of "historical inspiration" pictures. Mostly guns, but lots of swords and knives. Great photos!

I checked out the book on-line. I did a search and found the book (hardcover), at Barnes and Noble's website for $17.98 (plus $3.99 shipping). The book is on it's way to my house. I also found out on one site that the $65 cost for the book is supposed to be a numbered (1-500) limited edition, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for bringing the book to my attention!

Lori
