ABAIS engraving

Americanized Bastardized Adulterated Incisions on Steel = ABIAS

Well I can't TECHNICALLY call it Bulino.

Here as re pics of job I just finished. I'm not near as competent with my digital camera as a graver so don't laugh too hard at the cut and paste job I did on the photo.

Ray

This is on a pocket locket by Joe Kious. I have titled it "Power and Agility"

The knife is 3 1/2" closed. Material was 416, 24K gold inlay, and rose gold inserts in the pockets.

I don't know quite what to say. I'm afraid that if we keep complementing you, you'll get bored and quit posting!

I never get tired of looking at your work!

Thumbs up

Ray
Beautiful work!! At times I wish I could concentrate on one single art form, instead of trying to do them all, Knifemaking, engraving, leather working, photography, web page management.
Wow, wait a minute! I am beginning to sound like a Whining Woosy. Actually I saw one of those the other day in the woods, but found out they were out of season.
Keep up the good work, I am jealous.
Dusty

Ray very nice and creative as always. I hope your wife and kids didn't put in the mode for the creation of these ideas
By saying not bulino do you mean it?s sculptured somewhat.
Again what a wonderful compilation of work. Thanks for sharing it.

Mike,

True bulino is somewhat sculpted on a microscopic scale. This is as well but thats not what I meant.

I did not follow the technical rules of bulino as far as what order I cut the lines in and I mixed lines and dots etc. I also releived the background of my scrolls which is a no no for true Bulino work. A purist would jump on me for calling it Bulino so I refuse to call any of my work bulino (whether it is or not).

There are two kinds of artist in this world. Those who take what has been done before them and move in their own creative direction with it and those who faithfully keep what the masters did alive. Both are valid philosophies. Both are valuable to have. Without one what has been done in history dies. Without the other progress is never achieved.

I, however, would rather stand on the shoulders of giants than pick lint from between their toes. But thats just me.
