A few new scrimshaw pieces
Hello everyone! I posted some work a couple months back when I had just started to learn scrimshaw. Unfortunately there was a bit of a break in the action for a while but I'm happy to say I'm back at it and having a great time making new stuff. I need more hours in the day. :-) I'm working on a dragon pendant right now (attempting color!) so that will take a while longer to finish, but here are a few other recent pieces:
Wolf pendant, 18x25mm pre-ban elephant ivory cabochon (not yet mounted in a pendant setting). That background tested my patience, guess I'll need to get used to that! Chicken pendant, 18x25mm pre-ban elephant ivory cabochon in sterling silver mount. Another chicken pendant in a looser style, was a birthday gift for a friend. This is a tiny piece of a piano key tail. Stay tuned for the dragon as soon as I finish it! -Katherine |

Nicely done, Katherine. I do like dragons, so please post pictures when you have yours done.

As nice as the dragon. One other thing that I forgot to mention when doing color use good quality oil paints and allow enough time for the pigment to be absorbed and dry before going onto the next color.
