A test on posting Bengal tiger scrim

I hope this works. I thought I would finally try to post a picture of something I have scrimmed. The knife was made by Ed Lary, a knifemaker from Wisconsin. the handle material is ivory as well as the sheath. Ed Lary is currently making a stand for the knife partly made out of ivory (I will be scrimming the rest of the tiger onto the stand). It will be a while before I have it done - I have other orders to finish - but I thought it was a great idea.

If the picture doesn't show up it is at http://www.loriristinen.com/id152.htm or at me website under commissioned scrim.

Lori

WOW

Great looking work. Good to see you joining the ranks here. Since I can't do it, it is sure nice to see the quality work of those that can. Your work is top shelf.

Welcome to the forums. I will now go back out and work on something a little harder to mess up, STEEL.

Nice work Lori!

Ed Lary makes some beautiful knives. Do you have a full-size picture of the knife? Please post a picture of the stand when you get that far, ok?
Am I gonna' get a chance to see this in person at the BKC show?
Very nice!!
Tim

I want to thank everyone for their comments on my scrim. I really appreciate it!

My first attempt at posting a picture failed. I will try it again...

This is picture shows the whole knife I scrimmed the Bengal tiger on (both sides). The clarity isn't as good as I hoped but...

The knife will end up resting on an ivory cradle attached to a base. It will be a while before I can get started on it but when I finish scrimming the rest of the tiger onto the cradle I will post it here.

Thank you!
Lori

If you'll notice...those tiger eyes follow you all around the room.

Lori-

When I first saw your photos I immediately called for my wife and daughter to come downstairs... "there's something you've got to see!"

I then went to your site and we just ooooh'd and aaaaah'd as we went through image by image. Your work is wonderful...

You can never show us too much!

Dennis

Well, my husband just had to leave the room because he said there wasn't enough room for him, me and my head . But seriously, I do thank all you guys for your comments.

I have to give my husband, Greg, some credit for the Bengal tiger scrim. There were 4 areas to scrim, and I didn't want to just scrim 4 different pictures of a tiger. It was basically his idea for the eyes across the whole side of the knife. I always like doing things a little different.

Thanks again everyone!

Lori

i know how that goes, lori.
my wife is a professional quilter. whenever she is stuck on a project, she comes to be for an 'unbiased' idea. sometimes input from a different viewpoint is just what is needed to overcome the stereotypes we have in our heads (read: brain cramp).
.
again, lovely work
