Slipjoint Pivot Question
I have been looking at several factory tangs, I have noticed that the distance from the center of the pivot point to the run up marked A is slightly less than the distance from the pivot point the the end of the tang marked B.
Is there a reason for this, and is there some rule of thumb to follow in making this area? |

The greater distance to "B" ( probably a difference of 45-55%) will require you to move/ displace the spring more to close the knife. The 55% will be on the outside when closed... meaning more to open it.
Hopefully those with more knowledge will stop by soon and correct me if needed. __________________ Mike Koller Memphis, TN Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you may not be dependent on anybody. 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 Last edited by mike koller; 01-07-2008 at 12:21 AM. |

There was at one time a rule of thumb of 45 to 55%, which can also be said for the distance of the upper and lower part of the liners to the pivot. But all that I can say is that it will make lock up better, as well as walking and talking better.
