Chef Knife

Here is a pic of a kitchen knife i made over the weekend. It is made from scavenged materials. The blade is from a power hacksaw blade my buddy found in a barn. The handle is from a log that was about to be tossed on a camp fire. The old guy that gave it to me said it was cherry. It had no bark and looked like black walnut to me. There is no stain on it and its sanded to 100 grit. The pins are brazing rod stubs i picked up off the floor at the Harley shop. Diff. heat treat, bronze temper x3. Vinagar patena
Blade: 4 3/4"
OAL: 10"

Notice my signature wallowed out pin holes.

Smile :-)

how about countersinking the brass pins and filling the hole with glue and wood dust from sanding, that way it shouldnt be seen. or maybe use chicago screws, that way the head would cover it.

It looks like cherry wood to me. It will darken over time. I like it.

Here is another example of PPP, or poor pin placement as i like to call it. This is an Anso style upside down sheeps foot skinner, for lack of better terms. I am changing my makers mark. My name is Roc, so i thought it being short, it would work. But too many people mistake it for country of origin, so..... anyway, 1095 diff. quench, fuzz over 5"

"ROC" ...What is that? Republic of Cleveland? *g*

Hey I like your chef's knife. And I think you're real brave putting your name on your knives .. Mine are so bad, I put other peoples' names on them ....

Yep, I did. PM'd ya back, your inbox is full.
Registered months ago, but the site wouldn't let me in ... ?

I am currently in the throes of a 10" chef's knife for a buddy.
I would like it if people would start asking me for shivs.
