The Second knife I built
This was before I started forging my own steel. My neighbor, friend and avid bow hunter brought me this production 440c blade and asked me to see what I could do with it. At the time other than reading a few books mostly about Puuka knife building I was totally unschooled on anything. So the finish leaves a lot to be desired. Come to think about it I am still not happy with my finishing work but that is another story.
Oregan broad leaf Maple burl slabs. Under cut next to handle so that the endless twisted pair of copper wires lays half under scales yet allows you to just feel them in the hand without getting in the way. Notice the three pins that hold the scales to the handle? They are bamboo hand rounded to a extremely tight fit and driven through the scales. Over all lenght 8 inches 3 1/2 to 4 inch blade. __________________ I Mount Knives, Carl D. Ward, Jr. Last edited by Carl Ward; 02-21-2003 at 03:16 AM. |

Hi Carl,
nice work-I really like the copper wire trick-never seen anything quite like it before! Jens |
