New to the forum
Hello, new to the forum and new to knife making. I've been making knives for about 6 months is all, off and on. I've always wanted to create "art", and I think I've found my medium. I've been a metal guy most of my professional career, the grinding and finishing practice have come in handy. I'm a stock removal guy, and send my stuff out to be heat treated, but the necessary equipment to do my own is high on the list.
I've contacted Ray about doing the KITH, and am excited to join in here.

Welcome aboard, Kevin! Fill out your profile so we know where you are. That can lead to invitations to local knife clubs, hammer-ins, and shop visits...

Done! Sorry about that. Computer savy isn't really my thing yet, but I'm getting there.

It's actually SS. It must be how it's angled. I cut in the slot with a drill and files, then rough shaped it. I pinned it and glued it to the antler and then finished shaped it when I did the rest of the handle.
Thanks

Here's another one. The grind was way to shallow and it didn't cut for beans. After testing I took it back to the grinder and lengthened the bevel. It cut way better after that. I had a guy but it before I could get another pic.

Nice fit and finish but the edge is too thick. Regrinding the primary bevel to lengthen the bevel - I assume that means you pushed the bevel all the way up to the spine - would indeed make it cut better. Better still would be to continue the grind you have until the edge is about .020 thick and then sharpen the edge....

That is exactly what I did. I ground it about 3/4 of the way up the blade, it turned out nice. I wish I would have snapped some pics. It wasn't even for sale. I had a guy gone in my shop, he picked it up, swung it around a bit, then asked me how much. I joking said $100, he plopped down a Benjamin, and left. CRAZY. My plan was to use it as my EDC and test it out. I had cut a bunch of cardboard and whittled some wood down with it after the regrind. Oh well, I used the money to buy more steel.
