VERY new to all of it.

Hi all. I'm new to working on legitimate knives, been basically guessing my way through for about two weeks or so. I've put scales on 2 fixed blades and 2 pocket knives so far. One thing is clear, I NEED some time working with an experienced hand to get a lot of problems solved. It HAS been extremely gratifying working on what I have done so far, and as Dad is working on setting up shop selling blank knife scales I need to get good enough to make displays for the stuff he wants to sell. It also works as I've wanted to develop this skill set since I was quite a small child, growing up with the knife/gun/artisan culture around me. I stay just north of Atlanta and could definitely use whatever help I can get within the confines of my schedule.

Welcome aboard! Every single one of us has been in your shoes.....so don't hesitate to aks questions, and "lean" on us!

You're certainly in an area where there are ton of great makers. The best way to find them is to get a copy of the Knives annual (Knives 2014).... in the back makers are listed by state.

Thanks! Hopefully I can find someone close by that can walk me through the basics in a workshop. I'm limited at home to almost entirely woodworking tools for now. I need to find out just what can be done with them as well.
