Howdy all. Been working
Sorry. I'm gone for 4 months at a time and I get out of the habit of checking in here. How is everyone? I'm busily trying to finish Christmas knives while waiting for a new job to start. Here are a few I've done since I got home. Finished this one this morning
A couple nesmuks. I have a funny/sad story about the one with the stage handle. A Loveless style. |

I agree that feather blade is just absolutely beautiful!!!! without a doubt one of the best patterns I have ever seen on a blade and the handle material matches it perfectly! GREAT WORK!

Great to see you back Ricky. Nice work on the knives - the mucks seem to have picked way up in popularity the past year or so. Can't keep any in stock.

Thanks everyone. CRex, took me a minute, good eye. I have gone to simpler sheaths without tooling because I get a much cleaner look. I'm still learning leather for sure.
Here is a pictorial WIP on the feather bowie. I've wanted to make this knife for a long time. The shape of the blade was almost forced on me because I wanted to feather to emerge from the handle and end in the tip. When it was roughed out, I didn't like it much. By the time the grind was done I had changed my mind and really liked it. I've been saving this unusual piece of desert ironwood for a couple years for something special. Wow beautiful work with that feather patterned blade! My favorite one though is the stag handle blade, simple and elegant. The textures of the handle transitioning to the smoothness of the blade is really pleasing to me.

+1 on all the others. That is an exquisite piece of steel. Don't know I've seen a feather damascus that looked so, uhh, dare I use the word "lovely"? You nailed the blade shape with the feather pattern as well. Really beautiful wood too.

I see things like that because I'm guilty of the same thing. Constant battle to remember the little stuff these days.
Thanks for sharing the pics on the feather....beautiful work! __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |
