Making a Pouch Sheath  Bruce Evans

Here I will try to explain how I make a pouch sheath.I am using 7-8 oz. vegetable tanned leather. This piece wasnt the best but it works.

First you need the knife and some leather.
Now you trace around the knife and roll it over, keeping it in line with the line you just drew and trace around this side of the knife.

Now draw a line 1/4 inch around the traced shape,You can alter the outside shape if you want as I have done here. Now cut arond the line on one side and check for fit then cut the other side of the sheath and check the fit again. Adjust if necessary.

Using the straight gouge now gouge out some lines in the center of the sheath from the guard down. This is so the leather will fold and lay flatter around the blade.

Now cut a 1/4 inch wide strip of leather that is long enough to follow one side of the sheath from top to bottom. Then cut notch's in the leather so it will bend at the curves.
