This is my first knife I have made.

That looks far better than my first one. Stay with nice, simple designs like that for a while and test each one very hard - cut all kinds of stuff a lot! Make sure they work as good as they look. Be willing to destroy some of the first ones to prove the heat treatment and also the handle design....

Pilot, I recommend doing the HT KITH in the stickies to verify you have your heat treat correct. It's pretty easy and a good way to make sure you are making knives not NLOs.
Your first knife looks pretty good too. __________________ Mark |

Thanks everyone! This will be a test knife but I don't think it will last like it should. I think I got the first half of he blade to hot with the torch. The next one should do better in the oven. Can't wait to test one out of the oven to see the difference.

Hey pilot are my eyes deceiving me or is that a scandinavian grind? What are those handle scales made of? Good job on your first knife. If you aren't too attached to it, after you test it out break it and look at the grain. Then break an old file(if you have one laying around) and compare the grain size. If you're heat treat is good the grains should look very similar.

That's very nice. My first knife was ugly but sharp. I still use it as my shop knife.
