I am so sorry. It was mercifully quick from the time of the diagnosis, but there is not much consolation in that.

Gib was an inspiration to me, and I am sure his spirit lives on in the knives he created.
My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP. __________________ Kevin Davey |

Definitely an inspiration to me also. An original artist with a recognizable style. Humble and generous with his knowlege. The epitome of the spirit of TKN and a neo tribal brother. A great loss to us , and I am sure to all that knew him. What strength it must have took to work as long and hard as he did through such a devestating disease.

As Don said, "it's little consolation", but I'm glad that Gib didn't have to suffer too much in the end.
I've spent countless hours talking with Gib on the phone over the last 5 years and have come to know him quite well. Gib was a gentleman, an artist and very humble. We're going to miss Gib a lot around here. Hopefully his inspiration will live on and we'll all become better through it. Guys, I know this isn't a good time to say this, but life offers little guarantees for those of us who remain. One of the least of which is the "time" we spend doing what we love most. I'm so pleased with the aggressiveness that Gib and Chuck went after their partnership efforts together with. They've turned out some spectacular artwork together over the short time of their partnership and there's no telling where that could have lead them over time. Chuck, we're all here for you! If there's anything you need personally, please keep me at the top of the list. Gib, "Old Buddy"... "Forge on!" Alex __________________ Alex Whetsell [======]~~~~~~~> Atlantavirtual.com Atlanta NOC |

Here he is again. Proud man!
Nicely put, Alex. As Roc said in another thread, Gib WAS a pinnacle member of the Knife Network. This place is going to miss him. He's been in my thoughts all the time now.... Coop |

Chuck -- completely slipped my mind last night, but is there anything we can contribute to the family? Memorial of any kind? Donations to foundation (s)?
Don, thoughtful gesture! Mike __________________ Trying to become the kind of man my dog thinks I am http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft...E4E363B}&tio=0 |

Thanks Chuck, for sharing the news of Gib's passing. By all reports Gib was one of the good guys. Seems appropriate to note his passing with pictures of his work (in this case as a CactusRose collaborator). Gib had a style of his own. And fortunately this may not be the end of CactusRose as Gib had supplied Chuck with some wonderful blades yet to be finished.

Thanks all...
Gib was laid to his final rest this morning, 7/20/05............... As noted by Buddy and per Gib's wishes those blades/knives he left in my care will be finished up by Linda and I as CactusRose pieces. Larry aka Deserthawke, Gib's close friend who cared for him in his time of need also has many of Gib's blades and will finish them as time sees fit. His legacy will live on.......................... __________________ Chuck Burrows Hand Crafted Leather & Frontier Knives dba Wild Rose Trading Co Durango, CO chuck@wrtcleather.com www.wrtcleather.com The beautiful sheaths created for storing the knife elevate the knife one step higher.
