Measure those pins before drilling!
I bought a bulk of pin stock ages ago and for the most part it met spec so I tended to drill slightly oversized to allow a smooth fit when epoxying handles.
1/8" came in at .1249" ream to .1260" 7/32" came in at .2185" drilled with 5.6mm/.2200" 1/4" came in at .2494" drilled with F/.255" (The drill bits are actually not "accurate" so the hole is a touch undersized relative to spec. This yields a good fitting pin.) I bought some new 1/4" and in auto mode drilled it with the F drill bit. Prefit it seemed a bit loose but nothing overly obvious. After epoxying it up I wasn't to pleased. Measured that pin and it was .2460". __________________ Mike |

Yup, one of the joys of dealing with materials that come from different sources.
Some 6-4 Ti was not stamped "mil-spec" and the seller stated it was at .050". When I got the sheet it went as low as .046" up to .055" far from uniform. (Maybe to them an average was acceptable.) In that same batch the .115" had an equally disappointing spread to deal with. __________________ Mike |
